Yasmin Tablets – 3 x 21 contains drospirenone and ethinylestradiol, a combined contraceptive pill. It is used to prevent pregnancy.
How it works
It stops ovulation, thickens cervical mucus and thins the womb lining.
How to use it
Take one pill at the same time each day for 21 days, then have a 7 day break, unless the prescriber advises otherwise. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
Before you use it
Not suitable for everyone, including people with a history of blood clots, some types of migraine, kidney or liver problems. The prescriber will check.
Possible side effects
Headaches, breast tenderness and spotting are common. Pills containing drospirenone carry a higher risk of blood clots than some other pills.
